I have many years experience creating art, though my professional move
into freelance illustration is relatively recent. My work is unique,
though echoes the Art Nouveau style of the turn of the 20th century.
Old masters like Arthur Rackham and John Bauer continue to be
wellsprings of inspiration. My passion for illustration stems from the
desire to offer entrance into another realm, one of fantasy and
excitement--a nostalgic, curious peek into the ancient art of fairytale
and story. Children, animals, women and nature are recurring threads,
though I am very interested and excited to find projects that challenge
me and lead me into new territories.
I typically work in
standard sizes, 11" x 14", 12" x 12", using watercolor and pen and ink.
Currently, I illustrate for a permaculture (landscape/architecture)
design company. My illustrations are the primary images for client
communication and public marketing. My Illustrations provide clients
with a compelling, accessible communication of design ideas. Landscape
and architecture drawings are often very technical and my watercolor
and ink drawings provide a link between a technical/abstract idea and
how a space will truly look and feel at its completion.
I am
essentially a self-taught artist, with a modern, yet wistful,
melancholy style, looking for work doing illustration in many arenas.
