Bob Harvey is an author and writer.
He writes speeches and presentations and sales, advertising and corporate copy for all media and is much in
demand for his specialisation in designing, scripting and delivering all types
of corporate events, presentations and videos.
He holds an Honours degree in Economics, and is a Fellow of the Royal
Society of Arts. He was the British Public Speaking champion in 2003, having
previously held the title as Impromptu Speaker and now both facilitates
international and management conferences and trains speakers to give powerful
and effective presentations.
Bob’s career stretches
across marketing, advertising and export sales, achieving in the latter area
the Queen’s Award for Exports for the soft drinks machine company, SodaStream.
He went on to run his own acclaimed group of restaurants in the East Midlands, and became a well-known voice in the local
media.
In 1995 he created
“Messages into Words,” specialising in helping companies to communicate with
all of their stakeholder audiences. He is increasingly in demand for individual
and group coaching on personal management skills, and runs workshops on
communication techniques, with the emphasis on all areas of spoken interaction,
from the basics of effective conversation to the skill of positive listening
and the techniques of everyday negotiation.
He has worked with
companies like Bryant Homes, Eurostar and Orange in developing branding programmes that
run through the company, projecting an image and culture both externally to
customers, shareholders and suppliers, and internally to employees in every
department.
Hand-in-hand with
branding he has worked with many companies on Change programmes and recently
worked on the programme for BT in the transformation programme to re-brand BT
Access Services as Openreach. This involved developing a communication
strategy to reach 30,000 employees.
On a more intimate scale
he has worked with smaller groups from provincial law firms to luxury hotels.
The core problem is nearly always similar – moving from Silo thinking to
customer-focused action groups, and transitioning from competing departments to
cooperative cross-fertilisation.
A strong believer in the
value of personal development, he has been involved with courses in Europe, America and Africa
in programmes designed to build confidence and help participants realise their
individual potential.
As a writer, he
specialises in producing scripts and presentations that eliminate technical and
corporate jargon to create messages that are easily accessible and memorable.
He works in all areas, from telecoms and computing to healthcare, finance and
consumer goods.
