I provide consultation in planning the workflow for digital and hybrid productions to insure that all the elements needed for successful completion are captured to proper specifications. This may include planning the equipment package for production. It will involve 1 or more days of Prep and testing all equipment to be used in production to insure proper interconnectivity. (If you don't need a prep day, you don't need my services.) I work with the DP to create the LOOK s/he is seeking in the most efficient way. Key question is what parameters to control in production, what to control in POST? On set, I provide field engineering services, including accurate picture monitoring for DP and Director (and Client if necessary) and monitor the technical aspects of the signal for quality control. I make whatever adjustments are necessary, consult with the DP and Director concerning any changes that are necessary during the course of Production. Beyond that I keep in communication with the Sound Department and with Post-Production Department to insure that we are all capturing the signals we need and that these are delivered in an orderly and timely way to Post-Production Department. . If Digital Dailies are presented, I insure that the displays are properly calibrated. I expect to be properly compensated for my services and whatever equipment I bring to the production, and whatever communication, travel, and other such costs as are pertinent to the production. I am open to negotiating creative approaches to compensation in advance. Where screen credits are given, I expect to be included along with other craftspeople.
