About the Freelancer

I am a freelance writer and editor, with six nonfiction novels and several feature articles in prominent Canadian magazines published to date, (Google Judy Andrekson to see some of my work). My career focus has shifted in the past few years toward working with other writers and I now divide my time between my own writing and running my creative writing business, The Writing Zone (thewritingzone.ca).

I love working with new writers to help them develop their ideas into a finished, professional manuscript, ready for submission to publishers and agents, or to help them improve their written work in many other ways. I also edit professional, personal and academic documents.

As a first timer using an editor, I was uneasy on how the process worked. Judy made the process flow smoothly and seamlessly. She answered all my questions even before the work began. Her suggestions to the first portion of my book I submitted to her were encouraging, as well as professional. She even gave examples of how the text could transition better in-between chapters. After working with Judy, I am even more inspired to continue on to the next half of my book.
