Since 1994 I have run a home-based business providing editorial and DTP services for academic organisations, blue-chip companies, charities, government agencies, PR firms and publishers.
Clients past and present include Blackwell, Braun, East Midlands Trains, GlaxoSmithKline, Heinemann, Mercedes-Benz, Lotus F1, NFU, Northern Foods, Ofsted, Open University, Relate, Siemens, Thames Water and Toyota.
Using a combination of all-round journalistic, production and project management skills, I can create single features or entire publications to very high standards within the budget and deadline specified.
I have researched and written articles on many different subjects for newspapers, magazines and websites, and edited and designed reports, newsletters and books in a wide variety of fields. During my career, I have covered business and commerce, crime, education, engineering, environmental issues, farming, healthcare, history, local government, politics, property, science, technology and transport.
One of my strengths is being able to turn complex information into clear, concise and lively copy, enabling clients to communicate effectively with their target audiences – in print or online. In addition, I can provide images to illustrate my articles using my picture editing skills or by taking my own photographs, and make broadcast-quality recordings for podcasts and sound archives.
Publications written and edited by me have more than once been commended in the Communicators in Business Awards. I am also a member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders, the Oral History Society and the British Association for Local History.
I travel all over the UK and further afield to meet clients and carry out reporting assignments. I am located in the heart of the country in Northamptonshire, just an hour and a half by train from central London.
